Problem
Team planning and status reporting become harder when tasks, daily updates, milestones, and reference documents live in separate workflows. Relay brings that work into an application where access and ownership are explicit.
Application capabilities
- Teams, tasks, subtasks, milestones, and daily progress updates.
- Permissions that govern access to team work and application functions.
- AI-assisted weekly and monthly reports that summarize recorded activity.
- Document retrieval to bring reference material into the workflow.
Cloud and identity integration
A Python backend supports the React interface. The deployment design uses ECS Fargate and CloudFormation, connecting application development with repeatable cloud infrastructure. OIDC authentication with PKCE supports the sign-in flow, while application permissions control access after authentication.
Validation and current status
The project includes backend and frontend automated tests. Reporting behavior and application integration continue to be refined during active development. The case study describes implemented capabilities and engineering work; broad production reliability has not been established.
Technologies
Engineering value
Relay demonstrates end-to-end application ownership: a working domain model and interface, identity and authorization, infrastructure as code, automated tests, and the ongoing work of making reporting useful and dependable.
