Chess Rules

Piece	Movement
♔ King	One square in any direction
♕ Queen	Any number of squares in any direction
♖ Rook	Any number of squares horizontally or vertically
♗ Bishop	Any number of squares diagonally
♘ Knight	"L" shape: Two squares in one direction, then one sideways
♙ Pawn	Moves forward one, captures diagonally, can move two on first move

Special Moves

Castling: King moves two squares towards a rook; rook jumps over.
En Passant: A pawn can capture an adjacent pawn that moved two squares.
Promotion: Pawns reaching the last rank promote to a queen, rook, bishop, or knight.

Win Conditions

Checkmate: The king is trapped with no legal moves.
Stalemate: A player has no legal moves, but the king is not in check (draw).
Draw: Insufficient material, threefold repetition, or 50-move rule.
